8. While students present, the class must come up with two true or false questions per presenter. We will pause at the end of each presentation to have students create the questions. We will eventually play battleship and T/F Elimination Game with those questions.
Lesson 2 - Review Cold War (2 Days)
1. Review Cold War Vocabulary on Ideology: Have students copy down and explain them + add to them based on what we learned in our Political Ideology section from the Russian Revolution Unit.
Vocabulary --- A Bipolar World, Ideology, Communism/Capitalism.
Communist ideology - Government owns means of production
Capitalist Ideology –Private enterprises own means of production
2. Lecture on Cold war – From "John Green." We will watch Crash Course US History #37 to learn about the Cold War. Instead of an old Mr. Fitton Lecture. For their final project in the course, students will have to choose something that interests them from the time period to do more in-depth research about. Students need to think of three things they could research from this clip. Write down on a piece of paper for Mr. Fitton. Write down to additional things that they may want to pursue that were not in the Cold War lecture by John Greene:
Project Topics from the Past: Terrorism in the 20th Century, Hirohito and Truman - War Criminals?; The development of Gay Rights globally; The Impact of Sports of the Cold War, Pablo Escobar... etc...

4. Introduce game. Play “Spy vs Spy” with the class. We will play this game over the next two weeks to show students the fear and paranoia felt by people during the Cold War Era.
-2 versions. Which one would they like to play?
-Version 1: Each student gets a photo of the person they are after. They have to “kill” that person by shooting a rubber band at them. That student then has to give the shooter the picture of the person that they were after. Go until everyone is out. Last two remain. (Think of a way to re-integrate people into the game). Make school out of bounds. Must be outside. Can make one hallway a game zone to encourage trickery (ie: the band hallway/the stairwells.).
-Version two. Every student every day is “in the game.” Each student has to make a gun with their fingers and thumbs and shoot students with their fake fingers. But once shot, that person is out of the game and wears a small piece of tape on their arm all day in order to show that they have been caught. Points tallied last class of the day.

5. Introduce the Small Group Seminar Project:
Students will be given time to read any of our textbooks that cover 1945-1970 (Or about 1/2 of the Cold War Content of the course.)
They will need to also find an article on Ebscohost and annotate with questions, comments, connections, thoughts etc. As well as cite it using Chicago format Then will have to have a 20 minute conversation about the history in a small group (6-8 people) which will be graded based on the rubric below.
