4. Watch Don McMillan's Stand up Comedy Sketch - Death by Powerpoint. This funny sketch reveals some of the most commonly made mistakes when it comes to creating a powerpoint
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjcO2ExtHso Activity 1 – each group must do an awful presentation – based on cue cards that I give them make up a skit – they have 5 minutes. (must guess what is wrong) (These are located in the document listed above) Activity 2 – Do something in front of others that we all do to make each other feel comfortable - Some actions can be they will stand on their desk, shout their name, or like Mr. Keating, they must do their barbaric yop. -Show the Dead Poets Society Clip Below "A Barbaric Yawp." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6xyHna-NuM Activity 3 – Must be loud while doing activity one – must yell something. (lets pick an imaginary thing we hate – yell that you hate it when you go off of the desk) 5. Presentation time. Students will now be given the opportunity to practice their presentation. What will they do to make it better. -Set a time limit as a class! 6. Students will then share in small groups within their comfort zone (but maybe with a bit of a step out) 7. Students will then decide whether or not they would like to present to the class to practice getting outside of their comfort zone. |
